Avoiding hardware conflicts
Hardware devices use certain address settings and configuration values
to uniquely identify them in the computer. To eliminate potential hardware
conflicts when installing a new device, carefully read the installation
instructions that comes with the device.
Installing a new IDE device
The Equium 8100D can support up to four IDE devices.
There are two expansion bays on the front of the computer where devices
that require external access can be mounted. Your computer may have a
CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive in one of these bays.
There is a internal expansion bay inside your computer’s case for
devices that do not require external access, such as additional hard
disk drives.
Devices that have a 3.5-inch form factor require a 5.25-inch mounting
frame. The manufacturer should provide this or you can purchase one
from a computer store.
