S/W UPDATE
This option in t he “INSTALLATION” page updates the software in the recei ver. B y k eeping the s ystem software
up-to-date, you enjoy the l atest f eatures and bug fixes . Ho wever, before you p roceed t o update the soft ware,
consult your local de aler to obtain the l atest software and m ake s ure you kno w how to operate H yperTerm inal®

operating s ystem on your com puter.
1. Highlight “S/W UPDATE” and press the “E NTER”
button.
2. Use the “◄” and “►” bu ttons to highlight bet ween
“YES” and “NO ”.
3. Before you select “YES”, follo w the steps
outlined belo w to configure your PC f irst:
(a) Connect PC to your HD- C26H rece iver w ith a
RS232 cable (m odem cable).
(b) On the PC side:
- Launch the HyperTerm inal® applicati on.
- Name the connection.
- Select the correct COM port – usu ally COM1.
- Use the following COM port settin gs:
baud rate: 115200
data: 8
parity: none
stop bit: 1
flow control: n one
- After you c lick the “OK” button, you m a y see
man y m ess ages appearing in the
HyperTerm inal screen. Ignore them and
proceed to the n ext step.
- Select H yperTerminal’s basic f unction
“Transfer”.
- Select “Send File”.
- Browse to select the up dated software f ile.
- Tr ansfer protocol: “1K Xm odem ”
DO NOT click on the “Send” button at this
time yet.
4. Now that your PC has been pro perl y configured,
you can h ighlight “YES” on t he T V sc reen and
press the “ENT ER” button on the rem ote control.
5. After select ing “YES”, you will see the c urrent
software versio n o n the T V scr een. M ake sur e this
software versi on is dif ferent f rom the versio n of the
new s oftware file stored o n your PC. Select “ YES”
again to proce ed with the d ownload.
6. Now click on the “ Send” button on your PC
HyperTerm inal to start uploading the new
software.
7. On the T V sc reen, you will see the window with a
status bar indic ating the do wnload progres s.
Note: It is saf e to turn off the receiver onl y after t he
receiver has booted up a utom atically. Do not
disconnect the r eceiver from the power sourc e
during the software update proc ess. If there is a
power failure d uring t his time, the rece iver m a y
become unusable. In this case, contact your
local dealer.
