6 INSTRUCTION GUIDE FOR PROGRAMMING REMOTE CONTROL
The remote control can be c ompatible with various b rands of TV by setti ng the ir c ontrol cod es. T he TOSHIBA
code has init ially been s et to co ntrol T OSHIBA TVs . Refer to the four m ethods below f or pr ogramm ing you r
rem ote c ontrol and use t he one that best suits your s etup. (Note: Ever y ch ange of batter ies in t he rem ote c ontrol
unit will result in a reset to t he default T oshiba cod e of 138)
Due t o the gr eat variet y of T V s ystems , some m akes and models are not c om patible with your rec eiver’s re m ote
control. If you reach the en d of the available cod es without finding a co de t hat work s with your de vice, you will
need to use your T V system ’s rem ote c ontrol to turn it on and off , and control the volume. Even if the cod e is
found, th ere is a possib ility th at not al l the buttons on your rece iver’s rem ote control will work with your T V.
Control codes for regions Europe, US A and China ar e avail able on pages 61 to 68.
1. Programming
(a) Refer to the code lis t for the 3-digit c ode of the T V brand.
(b) Press the “T V FUNCT ION” button
to set the rem ote control operating your TV.
(c) Press and hol d the “ PROG.” button, th en enter th e three digits of your T V bra nd code using the
“CHANNEL NU MBER” butt ons.
(d) Check response on LED with ever y digit pressed;
1) LED lights up after the f irst digit press
2) LED blink s once after th e second di git press
3) If the code is available, LED g oes off after the third dig it pres s or else the LED will blink twice and
goes off, indic ating unava ilable code. Go b ack to step (c ) if an unavailabl e code was entered.
(e) Release “PRO G.” butt on to lea ve the program ming m ode.
(f) Point the r emote control a t your TV and use each button listed b elow t o m ake sur e your T V is
operated correctl y. (Ref er to page 13 and 1 4 for locat ion of buttons on rem ote control unit)

2. Auto code search (Region)
If none of the codes listed allows you t o contr ol your TV, a code searc h m ay d etect the correc t code. This
function perf orms a f orward search in the co de list b y region.
(a) T urn on your TV. Press and hold the “ PROG.” butt on, then pres s the “TV FUN CTION” button.
(b) LED lights up, i ndicating that the r emote control is now in program ming m ode. (LED will go of f and
rem ote c ontrol exits progra mm ing m ode if the “T V” button is pres sed or no further activity is s ensed
after ten secon ds)
(c) Releas e the “PROG.” and “T V FUNCT ION” buttons.
(d) Input the code “994” (f or Europe m odels) or “99 5” (for US models) or “ 996” (f or China m odels).
(e) T he remote control is n ow in “Auto cod e search” m ode.
