New European Eco Design Directive
The objective of the new European Eco Design Directive is the integration of environmental
aspects into product design with the aim of improving the environmental performance of the product throughout its
whole life cycle. Energy efficiency values, together with the sound levels of the units, will be reflected in the new Energy
label to allow end-customers to do better and environmentally sensible choice.
Apart from the user's behavior, there are two complementary ways of reducing the energy
consumed by products: the labeling to raise the awareness of consumers and the energy efficiency requirements
imposed to products on the design phase.
