Operating a computer using the remote control Placement A computer can be operated using the projector’s remote control. This function is available on any computer with the Windows® 98/98SE, Windows® Me, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, or Windows Vista® OS, that is equipped with a USB port which can support USB1.1 (The mouse remote control receiver is also supported on OS 9 or OS X for the Macintosh). However, please note that Toshiba does not guarantee the operation of all computers.

Precautions • Lamp characteristics may rarely cause the brightness to fluctuate slightly. • The DLP® chip is made using extremely advanced technology. There may be black spots (pixels that do not light) or bright spots (pixels that are constantly lit) on the panel. These are intrinsic characteristics of the technology and are not malfunctions. Notes • A lamp is consumable item. If used for extended periods, images will appear dark, and the lamp could burn out.
Using handy features (Continued) Zooming out the images Resizing image This projector is provided with the digital zoom (electric zoom: 100 - 62%) in addition to the optical zoom (manual adjustment with zooming ring). (Note that the display, if digitally zoomed out, may suffer from some degradation.) 1 Press the ZOOM – button. Each time the ZOOM – button is pressed, the image is reduced in size. Pressing the [RETURN] button on the projector for 10 seconds also sets the [Key lock] to [Off].

How to use the USB terminal This projector can connect with a commercial USB memory and a USB memory card reader/writer that are USB2.0 compliant, a digital camera or the like and display the JPEG and MPEG files saved in those devices. p.47 (Toshiba does not guarantee the operation of all USB 2.0-compliant devices.) Setting slideshow options Slideshow is the function to allow users to display JPEG and MPEG image files saved in a USB memory.

All: Displays a thumbnail preview of JPEG files, and if any JPEG files exist in the folder displays the leading thumbnail image. File: Displays only a thumbnail image of JPEG files. The thumbnail image of the JPEG files in the folder is not displayed. Off: Displays an icon without displaying thumbnail preview.
Installing the applications If you want to use the projector’s internal wireless LAN function, install the Network Utility on the supplied CD-ROM onto your computer. ■ System Requirements Windows® 2000, Windows® XP and Windows Vista® (Ultimate, Business) (Windows® 98SE and Windows® ME are supported by JPEG Conversion Tool.
Using the Network Utility 1 Launch the Network Utility software application. When the Network Utility launches, the Screen Image transmission mode window appears on the computer screen. To switch to the Screen Image transmission mode window from another mode, click on the Screen Image icon . 2 Select Transmission mode. Click on Update automatically or Update manually. See step 6 for the meanings of Update automatically and Update manually. 3 Click on the Advanced button.
Using the Network Utility (Continued) ■ Displaying a JPEG image saved on a computer via the projector 1 Launch the Network Utility software application. The Screen Image transmission mode window appears on the computer’s screen. 2 Click on the JPEG File icon . The Network Utility window changes to JPEG File transmission mode. 3 Click on the Browse button, and select the file to send. Clicking on the Browse button displays the Open dialog box. Select the file to send, then click on the Open button.
Using the Network Utility (Continued) The Movie file: Advanced Settings dialog appears. Set the dialog as shown below, as necessary. • Interruption Check the No Interruptions checkbox to prevent other computers from interrupting the projector, for example, during presentation. • Transmission Mode (Sound) Check the Transmit sound to a projector (Only when connected with one projector) checkbox to transmit the sound being played on a computer to the projector.

How to use the JPEG Conversion Tool (Continued) ® ® Converting files created with Microsoft PowerPoint This process provides presentations without using a computer by converting presentation files created with Microsoft® PowerPoint® into JPEG files, storing them on a USB memory, and displaying them in a slide show. • To use this conversion mode, Microsoft® PowerPoint® must be installed on the computer. • Only static images are supported by this process. Animation and audio are not supported.
How to use the JPEG Conversion Tool (Continued) Setting up the projector using a Web browser Creating a screen capture and converting it into a JPEG file How to use the “Projector Configuration Tool” The “Projector Configuration Tool” uses the Web server features of the projector to set up the projector using the network. When using the “Projector Configuration Tool”, set up the Network connecting the projector and the computer. This function saves the current computer screen as a JPEG file.

Maintenance About lamp Lamp replacement The product’s light source is a mercury lamp that lights at increased internal pressure. Be sure to fully understand the following characteristics of the lamp and handle it with extreme care. • The lamp may burst with a loud noise due to impact or deterioration, or fail to light at the expiration of its life. • How long it takes before the lamp bursts or the life expires may vary greatly by lamp. Some may burst shortly after first use.
Lamp replacement (Continued) 1 Unplug power cord. 2 Wait until lamp is sufficiently cooled. 7 Replace the inner lamp cover. Tighten the screw removed in step 4 until the inner lamp cover is no longer loose. 8 Replace the outer lamp cover. Wait for at least 1 hour. 3 Remove the outer lamp cover. Loosen the 2 screws, raise the outer lamp cover with your fingers as shown to remove the outer lamp cover. Use care to avoid any damage to nails and/or tip of your finger(s).
Others Lens and main unit cleaning Trouble indications The indicator illuminates and a beep sound informs you of internal abnormalities. WARNING No power • Request cleaning and maintenance of a ceiling-mounted unit from your projector dealership.
