Safety Precautions This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet international safety standards but, like any electrical equipment, care must be taken to obtain the best results and for safety to be assured. Please read the points below for your own safety. They are of a general nature, intended to help with all electronic consumer products and some points may not apply to the goods you have just purchased.

Front connections and controls A wide variety of external equipment can be connected via the sockets located behind the flap on the TV. Press the centre of the flap to open it. Whilst all the necessary adjustments and controls for the TV are made using the remote control, the buttons on the TV may be used for some functions. To set up the TV use the buttons on the remote control as detailed on page 4. 1 To choose the required language, press MENU and use R to select Set up. 2 Press Q to highlight Language.
Manual tune As an alternative to Auto Tuning, the TV can be tuned-in manually using Manual Tuning. For example: if the television cannot be connected to a video/decoder with a Scart lead or to tune-in a station on another System (see page 7). Use S and R to move across the screen and select any of these Manual Tune options. Manual fine tuning, Sorting programme positions 2 Manual fine tuning Manual fine tuning should not be required unless interference is experienced or the signal is weak. 1 Select Manual tuning from the Set up menu. Highlight the station and press OK. 2 Press R to select Manual fine tuning. The list of stations is now showing. With Q or P highlight the station you want to move and press OK or R. General and sound controls Volume correction Selecting programme positions Volume Correction helps to reduce the difference of volume from one programme/channel to another. To select a programme position use the numbered buttons on the remote control. Virtual Dolby Surround (ZH37 models only) Programmes with Dolby Surround (or Dolby Digital) soundtracks will be greatly enhanced by the effects of Virtual Surround from the TV and connected equipment, e.g. DVD player, games console, etc. Home theatre surround systems require five or more separate speakers, this TV offers the Virtual Dolby Surround option, the benefits of a five speaker system WITHOUT connecting any additional speakers.
The timer, time display, panel lock and stereo/bilingual transmissions 1 The Timer Panel lock The TV can be set to turn itself On or Off after a certain time. Panel Lock disables the buttons on the front of the TV. All buttons on the remote control can still be used. Press MENU and S or R to select the Timer menu. 1 From the Feature menu select Panel Lock and choose On or Off using S or R.
Input selection and AV connections Defining the INPUT and OUTPUT sockets so that the television recognises connected equipment. See page 5 for a clear view of the back connection recommendations. Teletext – setting up, general information, Auto and List modes This TV has a multi-page teletext memory, which takes a few moments to load. It offers two Modes of viewing text – Auto will display Fastext, if available. List will store your four favourite pages. Selecting Modes Navigating pages using Auto If Fastext is available four coloured titles will appear at the base of the screen. The teletext character set will be automatically chosen by the language setting in the Set up menu.
