TP-1509
12-Volt, DC Rechargeable Battery Pack
IMPORTANT
Please read all operating instructions before using
the TP-1509 12-volt, rechargeable battery pack.
INTRODUCTION
The TP-1509 battery pack is specially designed for use with
Tracerline® 12-volt, "instant on" inspection lamps.
The TP-1509 battery pack includes a 12VDC, 7.2-amp hour
rechargeable battery and a fused receptacle packed in a
nylon carrying case with an adjustable web shoulder strap.
The 12-volt plug receptacle is used for recharging and
connecting to the lamp using its 12-volt plug. A 120VAC,
12VDC-1000mA batter y charger (TP-1506S) is included.
NOTE: The TP-1509/F batter y pack includes a 230VAC,
12VDC-1000mA charger (TP-1506S/F). The TP-1509/J
batter y pack includes a 100VAC, 12VDC-1000mA charger
(TP-1506S/J).
USING THE TP-1509 BA TTER Y P A CK
The TP-1509 must be fully charged before using.
Check that the voltage characteristics of the batter y
charger match the voltage of the AC outlet.
Connect the 12-volt plug to the fused battery receptacle.
Plug the batter y charger supplied into a properly
regulated AC outlet.
• NOTE: The charger requires approximately 12 hours to
charge fully, depending on the discharge level of the
batter y. The red LED indicates the charger is being
charged, while the green LED indicates it is ready for use.
The charger will not overcharge. For maximum battery life,
recharge the batter y within 24 hours after each use and
before a voltmeter registers as low as 10 volts.
After the battery is charged, first unplug the charger from
the outlet, then unplug it from the fused receptacle.
WARNING
Use only the charger supplied to recharge the battery.
Other chargers may harm the battery and will void the
battery’s warranty. Recharge in a well-ventilated, dry
area. Do not expose the battery to high temperatures.
The maximum allowable temperature should be below
140°F (60°C).
USING THE TP-1509 BA TTER Y P A CK WITH THE LAMP
1. Plug the 12-volt plug adapter of the lamp into the fused
batter y receptacle.
2. Turn on the lamp.
3. Before stor ing, cleaning or ser vicing, disconnect the
lamp from the batter y pack and allow it to cool. Refer
to the operating instructions packed with the lamp for
full infor mation.
TROUBLESHOO TING THE TP-1509 BATTER Y P ACK
If the bulb does not light, it indicates low voltage from
the power source, a faulty connection, a faulty battery or
the need for bulb replacement. Refer to the operating
instructions packed with the lamp for full information.
1. Check that the lamp plug is firmly seated in the batter y
receptacle.
Disconnect the lamp before doing the following
troubleshooting!
2. Use a voltmeter to check the batter y ter minals. Recharge
the batter y if necessar y. For maximum batter y life,
recharge the batter y before it registers as low as 10 volts.
3. If the batter y does not recharge, disconnect it from the
charger. Use a voltmeter to check for proper DC voltage at
the charger output. If the voltmeter registers 13.2 volts or
above, the charger is working properly and the batter y
should be replaced.
4. Use a voltmeter to check for DC voltage output at the 12V
plug receptacle. If the battery is fully charged and the
voltage still registers zero, replace the fuse. Simply pull it
out and inser t a new one. Use a Buss ATC fuse or a
Littelfuse ATO 257-ser ies fuse of the same amperage
supplied with the TP-1509. Either fuse is available at your
local auto par ts store.
If the problem persists, contact your Tracerline
distributor or the Customer Service Department of Tracer
Products.
