PRESSURE-COOKING
Pressure-cooking starts when steam escapes
steadily from the venting pipe. When this occurs,
lower the heat setting. Allow the pressure cooker
to simmer for the appropriate time needed to
complete cooking the food (Fig. 10).
OPENING
Once cooking is complete and the heat is turned
off, release the pressure from the pressure
cooker by turning the pressure control valve
to the steam release setting. Use an oven mitt
when turning the control valve to the steam
release option (Fig. 11). Be sure to stay clear
of venting steam.
Another option is to allow the cooker to cool
naturally.
When the pressure indicator has fallen to its
normal position, all pressure has been released
from the pressure cooker, and it can be safely
opened (Fig. 12). Slide the pressure safety lock
towards the lid (Fig. 13). Rotate the lid handle
counterclockwise (Fig. 14). Match the O on the
lid with the on the pot handle and remove the
lid (Fig. 15).
