Brazilian churrasco is a unique culinary
tradition of fire-roasting all types of
meat over charcoal and open flames.
This tradition, originating in the early
17th century by gauchos (cowboys)
on small family farms in Southern
Brazil, has been preserved through
generations. In Brazil, churrasco is
customarily prepared during all types
of celebrations, bringing family and
friends together to share food and
hospitality. The authentic Brazilian
churrasco tradition is now shared
throughout the world in fine restaurants
called churrascarias.
Tramontina was founded in 1911 in
the southernmost state of Brazil, the
homeland of churrasco. For more
than a century, Tramontina has made
knives, utensils and accessories used
by families and churrascarias to
prepare and serve churrasco and has
been integral in the evolution and
internationalization of the culinary
