Formatting the TrekStor MovieStation
a
Caution: During formatting, ALL data on the hard disk are deleted! Before formatting, make backup copies of your data!
i
Please note that only files with a maximum file size of 4 GB are supported for a hard disk formated with FAT32.
Windows® 2000/XP/Vista
Under Windows, a storage device from a size of 32 GB cannot be formated with FAT32 in the usual manner. For this
purpose, the hard disk must be formated using a separate tool.
For this purpose, for example, you can use the free tool "H2
f o r m a t " from Heise (http://www.heise.de/software/download/
h2format/40825). With "H2f o r m a t ," you can format unformatted partitions of the MovieStation in Windows® using the
FAT32 file system. For this reason, formated partitions of your MovieStation must be deleted first. Proceed as follows:
Deleting existing, formated partitions
a) Right-click "m
y Co m p u t e r " or "Co m p u t e r " and select the menu item "ma n a g e ".
b) In the window that appears, select "D
i s K m a n a g e m e n t " from the list. The right window area is divided in two.
c) Your MovieStation is listed in the bottom area, that is, in the graphic list of the connected CD/DVD drives and hard
disks. If the MovieStation has not yet been formated by the user, the MovieStation is listed with the volume name
"treKstor".
a
Caution: Make sure not to select any of the other connected hard disks. If you do, the data and programs on the disk
will be irretrievably deleted!
Right-click the memory location icon of your MovieStation and select "D
e l e t e pa r t i t i o n " or "De l e t e Vo l u m e " on the
context menu that appears to delete the existing partitions on the MovieStation.
d) Confirm with "y
e s " to delete the partition.
