Note – The first speed dial location is generally reserved for your voicemail. Speed Dial uses the next
available location by default. If you want to place a number in a location that is already used, the new
number replaces the existing number.
To dial a number saved as a Speed dial, tap and hold the numberic key that is assigned to the
contact's number to dial it.
Working with SMS text messages
You can send an SMS (short message service) in much the same way as with a typical mobile
telephone. Each SMS text message can contain a maximum of 160 characters, depending on your
service provider.
To send a message from the Start screen or the Home screen, tap Text, then tap / New.
Customizing the phone
1. Make sure the SIM card is installed and the phone turned on.

Tap / Settings / Personal / Phone. You can:
ll Customize sounds:ring type, ring tone, keypad.
l Set Security: you can set a PIN to block unauthorized access to your phone connection.
l Configure Services: you can configure settings for Call Barring, Caller ID, Call Forwarding,
Call Waiting, Fixed Dialing and Voicemail and Text Messages.
l Set Network preferences.
l View Version information: view the RIL, MUX, RHA and AUD versions, as well as the
Manufacturer, Model and Revision number of the WWAN module.
l View other information about your phone, such as phone hardware ID number, current
signal strength, cell tower ID number.
ll IMEI: The unique number that identifies the phone module that is embedded in the
device. (If you purchase a SIM card separately, the phone service provider may want
your IMEI number.)
l IMSI and ICCID: Unique numbers embedded on the SIM card.
l Band: Leave all the settings selected unless you are instructed by Technical Support to
make an adjustment
