3 Using the operating system
To adjust the brightness of the screen:
1.
To turn Auto Brightness on or off, tap / Settings / System / Backlight, and select the
Brightness tab.
2. Drag the brightness level sliders as required.
3. Tap OK.
To set the backlight to automatically turn off:
1.
Tap /Settings/System/ Backlight.
2. To automatically turn off the backlight when the handheld is idle and is using battery power,
tap the Battery Power tab. Select the Turn off backlight if device is not used for check box and
then select a time from the drop-down list.
3. To automatically turn off the backlight when the handheld is idle and is using external power,
tap the External Power tab. Select the Turn off backlight if device is not used for check box and
then select a time from the drop-down list.
4. Tap OK.
Using the flashlight
The dual LEDs that are used for the camera flash can also be used as a flashlight. Tap /
Flashlight to toggle the flashlight on and off.
Calibrating the compass
To re-calibrate the compass:.
1.
Tap / Settings / System / Compass.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen:set the handheld on a level surface and tap Calibrate.
3. Wait 3 seconds and then rotate the handheld spinning it on its back without lifting or tilting it.
Complete at least a full rotation in 10 seconds.
4. Turn the device end over end, returning to the starting position. Complete at least a full
rotation in 10 seconds.
5. Roll the device over to the right, complete at least a full rotation in 10 seconds, to return to the
