Using the RFIDSetup app
Use the RFIDSetup app to:
l Enable the RFIDkeyboard wedge.
l Configure the RFIDscanner (set parameters).
Note – The settings configured using the RFIDSetup app apply to any RFIDscanner used with the device.
You can set local settings (via an API) for a 3rd party app.
l Read RFIDtags, test the configured settings.
To open the RFIDSetup app, tap / Settings/RFID Setup. The ThingMagic RFIDSearchLight
app opens.
Note – To use the RFIDSetup app, you must have the correct time zone, time, and date set on the handheld.
See Setting the time zone, date, and time, page 22.
Using a keyboard wedge
If you use a keyboard wedge to scan RFIDtags directly into, for example, a spreadsheet (such as
Microsoft Excel):
1. Tap Configure Application, then tap Wedge Settings.
2. Select the button that you want to use as the keyboard wedge, then tap Save.
3. Tap OK to exit the Configuration screen.
4. Tap Enable RFIDkeyboard wedge to enable it.
5. You are warned that power consumption will be increased; tap Yes.
6. To read tags directly into the spreadsheet, open the spreadsheet program and press the
button that you specified in stpe 2.
To reduce power consumption when you are not using the keyboard wedge, tap Disable
RFIDkeyboard wedge then tap OK.
Configuring the application
Tap Configure Application to access the following settings:
l Display Format. Tap to set how the EPC (Electronic Product Code) is displayed in the
application it is being read to if you are using the keyboard wedge.
l Read Parameters. Tap to set audible alerts, and keyboard wedge settings such as the scan
duration and metadata settings (timestamp / RSSI- Received Signal Strength Indicator /
position of when a tag is read).
