9 Using the UHF RFIDscanner
l Prefix / Suffix. Tap to set a prefix and suffix for all the tags that are read.
l Reader Settings:
ll Read power (dBm: Set how much power the RFIDscanner uses when reading tags; select
the required value from the list (from 10dB to 30dB). The default is 20dB. The higher the
power usage, the greater the reading range, and the greater the battery power
consumption
l Population size. This setting gives the scanner an indication of the number of tags it is
likely to read in a session. The scanner is then optimized for the selected population size.
The default is Small (less than 10 tags).
l Tag Selection. If required, you can set a filter mask so that only tags that match the filter
are scanned. Select None, OnEPC, OnTID, or On User Data from the list.
l Tag Types. Select the tag types you want to read. Currently you can choose from EPC Gen
2 (Electronic Product Code) and ATA . You can select one or both; Trimble recommends
that you only select the tag types you will be reading.
l Selection Address. You can specify where in the tag data the scanner starts to filter. Set to
0 (the default)if you do not want to specify a tag selection address.
l Select tags not matching mask: If this option is selected, tags that DONOTmatch the filter
are reported. If this option is not selected, tags that match the filter are reported.
l Wedge Settings. See Using a keyboard wedge, above .
l Upgrade RFIDFirmware. You will be sent an upgrade file and an installation key.
Reading tags
Tap Read RFIDTags to begin reading tags directly into the RFIDSetup app.Then tap Start Reads.
