SETTING UP THE PDL LOW POWER BASE/REPEATER (PDL LPB)
Overview of PDL LPB Radio Modem
Front Panel
Buttons
The O N /O F F button is used to turn the PD L LPB m od em on and off. Turn the unit on by pressing the
O N /O F F button and holding it until the channel displa y in dica tor is lit. T urn off the P D L LP B by pressing
th e O N /O F F button until the display goes blank. T here is a one-second turn-off delay in the p ow er button
to prevent inadvertent tu rn off.
The C H A N N E L button is used to display and change the channel. Press the C H A N N E L button
m om entarily to display the selected channel. T o cha nge the channel, pre ss the C H AN N EL button once to
lig ht the display, and then again to change the channel. R elease the C H AN N EL button w hen the desired
channe l is indicated.
The P D L LP B can be used as a base, rover or repeate r. W hen used as a base, you have access to
A utoB ase m ode that w ill aid in th e selection of the channel. U se the C H A N N E L button to select the " b "
setting. W ith " b " selected , the P D L LP B
w ill be pla ced in A utoB ase m ode. This
m ode selects the channel for tran sm ission
autom atically.
W hen used as a rover or repeater, you m ay
w ish to use A utoR over m ode. P ress the
C H A N N E L button to select the "r" setting.
W ith "r" selected, the P D L LP B w ill be
placed in A utoR over m ode. T his m ode
autom atically selects the channel being
used by the P D L B ase. If you are
operating in an area w ith m o re than one
P D L B ase station active, you should
m anu ally select the channel of operation
to assure proper
operation.
Display
The seven -se gm ent, nu m eric display is used
to indicate the channel or m ode selection.
To conserve pow er, the display is only lit
fo r a short period follow ing the pressing of
th e C H A N N E L or O N /O FF butto ns.
C hannel selections ra nge from C hannel 0 to
C hannel 15. T w o d igit channel num bers are displayed by alternately flashin g a "1" follow ed by th e
second dig it.
Indicator LEDs
The pow er LE D indicates the pow er status and also provides a low external voltag e supply indicator.
W hen lit, pow er is turned on. The pow er LE D w ill blink to indicate if the external voltage supply is
approaching the m inim um value. If the pow er LE D does not respond to the O N /O F F button, then the
level of the e xternal voltage supply should b e inspected.
