5. Replace the battery bay cover and tighten the 4 screws using the stylus screwdriver.
Removing / warm-swapping the optional accessory battery pack
1. The accessory battery pack may be removed while the device is on only if the internal
batteries have sufficient charge to keep the device on. If the internal batteries are fully
depleted and you remove the accessory battery, the device will instantly turn off due to
power loss, which may result in lost work.
a. Check the charge level of the internal batteries (see Checking the battery level of the
internal batteries and the accessory battery pack in the OS).
b. Check the charge level of the accessory battery pack in the same location as internal
batteries, or by pressing the button on the battery pack, if removed (see Checking
the battery level).
2. If the internal batteries are low on charge and the device is on, before replacing the battery,
you should either plug the device into a power source or complete your task, save your work
and shut the device down to prevent loss of data.
a. To turn the device off; press and hold the Power key, then tap Power off.
3. Ensure you are indoors when you remove the battery bay door cover and install the
accessory battery pack.
4. Using the Philips screwdriver integrated into the stylus pen, loosen the 4 screws to remove
the battery bay cover from the back of the device.
5. Remove the battery, lifting up and out.
6. Replace the battery with a fully charged battery if available.
7. Replace the battery bay cover and tighten the 4 screws using the stylus screwdriver.
