5. Replace the battery bay cover and tighten the 4 screws using the stylus screwdriver.
Removing / warm-swapping the optional accessory battery pack
1. The accessory battery pack may be removed while the device is on only if the internal
batteries have sufficient charge to keep the device on. If the internal batteries are fully
depleted and you remove the accessory battery, the device will instantly turn off due to
power loss, which may result in lost work.
a. Check the charge level of the internal batteries (see Checking the battery level of the
internal batteries and the accessory battery pack in the OS).
b. Check the charge level of the accessory battery pack in the same location as internal
batteries, or by pressing the button on the battery pack, if removed (see Checking
the battery level).
2. If the internal batteries are low on charge and the device is on, before replacing the battery,
you should either plug the device into a power source or complete your task, save your work
and shut the device down to prevent loss of data.
a. To turn the device off; press and hold the Power key, then tap Power off.
3. Ensure you are indoors when you remove the battery bay door cover and install the
accessory battery pack.
4. Using the Philips screwdriver integrated into the stylus pen, loosen the 4 screws to remove
the battery bay cover from the back of the device.
5. Remove the battery, lifting up and out.
6. Replace the battery with a fully charged battery if available.
7. Replace the battery bay cover and tighten the 4 screws using the stylus screwdriver.
