At the top of the screen, a Bluetooth icon shows when Bluetooth is turned on.
TIP - To save battery, turn off Bluetooth when you are not using it. Bluetooth is off in Airplane
mode.
Pairing and connecting a Bluetooth device with the Ranger 5 / TSC5
Before you can transfer data or communicate between your Ranger 5 / TSC5 and another Bluetooth
enabled device, you must pair the Ranger 5 / TSC5 and the device.
Step 1: Pair a Bluetooth device
1. Open the Settings app .
2. Under Wireless & networks, tap Bluetooth.
3. Make sure Bluetooth is turned On and the Ranger 5 / TSC5 is set to visible.
4. The Ranger 5 / TSC5 scans for and displays, under Available devices, all available Bluetooth
devices in range. If your Bluetooth device isn't showing in the list, tap more and then
Refresh.
5. Tap the name of the Bluetooth device you want to pair with.
6. Follow the on-screen steps.
○ If the pairing is successful, the Ranger 5 / TSC5 connects to the device.
○ If you are asked to enter a passcode or Bluetooth PIN, try entering 0000 or 1234 (the
most common passcodes), or see the documentation that came with your Bluetooth
device.Some old Bluetooth devices do not require a PIN.
○ NOTE – To connect to a Bluetooth-enabled receiver with a PIN, if for any reason you
cannot connect via Bluetooth, connect over Wi-Fi to configure the receiver. The IP address
is in most cases 192.168.142.1. Refer to the documentation for the receiver for details and
receiver specific settings.
Step 2: Connect to a Bluetooth device
After pairing with a Bluetooth device, you can connect to it manually — for example, to switch
devices or to reconnect after a device comes back in range.
1. Open the Settings app .
2. Under Wireless & networks, tap Bluetooth.
3. Make sure Bluetooth is On.
4. In the list of paired devices, tap a paired but unconnected device.
5. When the Ranger 5 / TSC5 and the Bluetooth device are connected, the device is displayed in
the list as connected.
Connecting to RS-232 peripherals
If you require an RS-232 port, you may connect a 3rd party USB-C to RS-232 adapter. To connect an
RS-232 device, plug the device cable into the RS-232 adapter port and plug the USB-C plug on the
adapter into the USB-C port on the Ranger 5 / TSC5. The adapter may require drivers to be installed
on the Ranger 5 / TSC5. Refer to the documentation for the RS-232 device for instructions on setting
up and using the device.
Transferring data between your Ranger 5 / TSC5 and another computer
You can transfer data or files between your Ranger 5 / TSC5 and another device. There are a number
of ways you can do this, including:
