maintenance. The may be cleaned regularly using common household and floor cleaning products. Do
not use cleaning agents with hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid. Abrasive cleaners should not be used on
anodized aluminum as they may scratch the surface. Remove any adhesive, grout, mortar or thin set from the
surface immediately after installation.
Necessary Tools & Materials:
3 For cutting the trims to proper length use either
a miter saw with nonferrous metal carbide tipped
blades, a bi-metal hack saw or a rotary hand tool
with metal cutting blade.
3 A hand drill for pilot holes (if using screws and/
or anchors) If installing in a fixed position over
concrete subfloor installation of wood anchors or
pegs is recommended.
3 Urethane based construction adhesive or heavy-
duty multi-purpose adhesive if using adhesive to
secure
3 Tape Measure • Rubber Mallet
Small Metal File • Safety Glasses
BASIC INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS:
3 START by making sure the space you are using
the transition is free of debris and level.
3 MEASURE: Measure the length of the transition
space on the floor and cut the trim to desired
length Remove any burs or sharp edges with a
metal file. Be careful not to gouge or scratch face
of trim.
3 Always us appropriate personal safety
equipment when cutting metal including safety
glasses or face shield. Follow appropriate
instructions and warning labels on all adhesives.
INSTALLATION:
3 FASTENER INSTALLATION: If using fasteners
(screws), place the trim in the in the desired
position and mark the edges of profile on
substrate. Drill pilot holes at the marked locations.
Trims are designed with pre-drilled holes or a
recessed channel if you need to drill additional
holes. Use #4 flat head screw with a minimum
length of 3/4”. Install the fastener so the screw
head is flush with the anchor leg. If installing
on concrete substrates, the use of anchors is
recommended. Install wood or plastic anchors per
manufacturer’s instructions. Position the flooring
into the opening of the trim. If necessary a rubber
mallet may be used to tap down the profile so it is
snug against the floor being installed. Use a soft
cloth or wood tapping block to avoid harming trim
finish.
3 ADHESIVE: Place the trim in the desired position
and mark the edges of the profile on substrate.
Choose a heavy duty construction adhesive or
urethane based construction adhesive following
manufacturers recommended instructions. Apply
a thin layer to the back side of the trim as well as
on the substrate where the trim will be placed.
Press the anchoring leg onto the substrate and
align to the correct position. Immediately remove
any excess adhesive from the face of the profile.
If necessary a rubber mallet may be used to tap
down the profile so it is snug against the floor
being installed. Use a soft cloth or wood tapping
block to avoid harming trim finish.
