IMPORTANT PRODUCT
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Home Theater-Audio/Video Products
• Read all safety and operating instructions before you operate this product.
• Observe all warnings and instructions marked on your product and its
operating instructions.
• Keep this Owner's Manual Addendum for future reference.
This product has been designed and engineered to ensure your personal
safety. However, improper use of this product could produce electric
shock or fire hazards. To avoid defeating the product's built-in safeguards,
observe the following basic rules for installation and operation.
INSTALLATION
1. Polarization or Grounding
(a) Your product may be fitted with a polarizing alternating-current line
plug (one blade wider than the other). For safety reasons, this plug
will fit the power outlet in one way only. If you are unable to insert
the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If it still fails to
fit, contact an electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not
attempt to defeat this safety feature of the polarized plug.
(b) Your product may be fitted with a three-wire grounding plug (two
blades plus grounding pin). For safety reasons, this plug will only fit
a grounding-type power outlet. If you are unable to insert the plug
fully into the outlet, contact an electrician to replace your obsolete
outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature of the three-wire
grounding plug.
2. Power Sources
Operate your product only with the type of power source listed on the
marking label. If you are unsure about the type of power supplied to your
home, contact your product dealer or the local power company. If your
product is designed to use battery power or other power sources, refer to
the operating instructions.
3. Overloading
Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords or integral convenience
receptacles, as this could produce an electric shock or fire hazard.
4. Power Cord Protection
Power cords should be routed through areas where they are unlikely to be
stepped on or pinched by items placed on or against them, particularly
near plugs, receptacles and the point at which they exit from the product.
5. Ventilation
The cabinet of your product has slots and openings to facilitate proper
ventilation. To ensure proper operation and to prevent overheating, these
openings must not be blocked or covered.
Do not block openings by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug or
similar surface.
Do not install the product in a bookcase, rack or similar location
unless proper ventilation is provided and all manufacturer's
instructions have been followed.
6. Wall or Ceiling Mounting
This product should be mounted on a wall or ceiling only as
recommended by the manufacturer.
ANTENNA INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Outdoor Antenna Grounding
If this product is to be connected to an outdoor antenna or cable system,
the antenna or cable system must be properly grounded to provide some
protection against power surges and built-up static charges. See Article
810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, for information
about proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, the lead-in
wire to an antenna discharge unit, the proper size for grounding
connectors, location of the antenna discharge unit, connection to
grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.
2. Lightning
To protect this product during lightning storms or when it is to be left
unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it and disconnect
the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage due to lightning
strikes or power surges.
3. Power Lines
An outside antenna system should never be located near overhead power
lines or other electric light or power circuits, nor in an area where they
could fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside
antenna system, use extreme care to avoid touching power lines or
circuits. Such contact could be fatal.
