D.3.2.1 Examples of Pattern Matching

Given the hypothetical template string:

and the hypothetical input string:

altitude 38.3, pressure 93.535, diag code 9a8dc8339,

compass 173.44

Isis parses the aforementioned sample string by applying the

{pattern=

input_string} template as follows:

1. Finds the first numeric character. In this case, it’s 3.

2. Assigns 38.3 to the a token, or auxiliary altitude.
