Problem Possible cause Solution
Resolution is set too
low.
Set your resolution to 600 dpi.
The number of colours
for your display adapter
is set too low.
Adjust your monitor adapter to a
minimum of 65,535 colours (16
bit).
Glass plate is dirty. Dirt
on the glass plate
shows up in the
scanned image.
Thoroughly clean the scanner
glass (Chapter 7).
Brightness is not set
correctly.
Adjust the brightness in the
TWAIN window (Chapter 4).
Low scan quality.
Contrast is not set
correctly.
Adjust the contrast in the TWAIN
window (Chapter 4).
A too high resolution
setting.
For normal purposes, a
maximum resolution of 600 dpi
should be enough. Use higher
resolutions for small originals
only.
Scanner operates
very slowly.
Insufficient memory. You need a minimum of 16MB
RAM. Recommended value is
64MB.
Hard disk is full. You need 3 times the space
required by the scanned image
as free space on your hard drive.
Make some free space on your
hard drive or use a lower
resolution.
Error message during
scanning.
Resolution is too low. For normal purposes, a
maximum resolution of 600 dpi
should be enough. Use higher
resolutions for small originals
only.
