IGNITED CAN CAUSE SEVERE BURNS AND DEATH.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DISCONNECT OR REMOVE THE BATTERY BEFORE
DRAINING FUEL OR ANYTIME MAINTENANCE WILL INVOLVE HANDLING ENGINE
FUEL. ENGINE FUEL IS EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE AND CAN CAUSE SEVERE OR
FATAL BURNS IF IGNITED.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DISCONNECT OR REMOVE THE BATTERY WHEN YOU DO
MAINTENANCE. EXPLOSIVE HYDROGEN GAS MAY BE PRESENT AROUND THE
BATTERY, AND CAN BE IGNITED BY STATIC ELECTRICITY OR BY CONTACT WITH

Draining the Fuel Tank
A. It is not necessary to drain the engine fuel tank for the majority of routine maintenance tasks.
However, the tank should be drained anytime the generator will be stored or when the fuel tank
must be removed for maintenance.
1. If the engine can be started, start the engine and close the fuel tank shutoff valve
(19) (refer to Figure 6-5. Let the engine operate until it is starved of fuel and stops.
By doing so, residual fuel in the fuel lines and carburetor will be reduced to a
minimum.Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel tank shutoff valve (19)
(refer to Figure 6-6).
