Hardware Updater 4 ABOUT THE HARDWARE UPDATER Users can update the firmware on their Turning Technologies hardware via the Hardware Updater. The Hardware Updater is available for download from the Turning Technologies website. Technical Requirements The following are required for the Hardware Updater to properly function.
Hardware Updater Downloading the Hardware Updater Visit the Turning Technologies website to download the Hardware Updater. NOTE Using an older version of the software may result in new ResponseCard firmware reverting to old firmware 1 Go to www.turningtechnologies.com. 2 Click on the Downloads icon in the upper right corner of the home page. 3 Select Hardware Updater 4 Enter the required information on the Software Downloads Registration and click Submit. 5 Click the Download icon to start the download.
Hardware Updater 6 UPDATING A DEVICE This chapter covers: Connecting via a Proxy Server Updating a Receiver Updating a ResponseCard Updating ResponseCard NXTs Over the Air Using the Over the Air Recovery Mode Connecting via a Proxy Server Some networks require the use of a proxy server to connect to external servers. If you are unsure if a proxy connection is required, contact your IT Administrator. 1 Open the Hardware Updater. 2 Select Connect using proxy server. 3 Click Proxy Settings.
Hardware Updater 7 Updating a ResponseCard ResponseCard XR, ResponseCard NXT, ResponseCard AnyWhere and the ResponseCard Programmer can receive firmware updates via the Hardware Updater. A mini USB cable is required for the firmware update. NOTE A standard 4-pin Type A to a 5-pin Type B mini USB cable can be purchased from the Turning Technologies Student Store or at any major electronics retailer.
Hardware Updater Using the Over the Air Recovery Mode Recovery mode is used to restore ResponseCard NXTs with black screens. 1 Place a check in the box next to Recovery Mode. 2 Click Start Update. 3 Remove the batteries from the ResponseCard NXT. 4 Press and hold the five (5) button while reinserting the batteries. 5 Release the five (5) button after the batteries are securely reinserted. The ResponseCard NXT will restart updating in recovery mode. 6 Repeat steps 3-5 for any additional ResponseCard NXTs.
