Installation Guide

Woodgrain Millwork® Rustic Accents
Installation Instructions
1. Choose your style:
Rustic Accents can be installed with a shiplap look or
traditional square siding look. Each style is easily created by
utilizing our custom spacing system. See below.
Rustic Accents panels look great installed in either a
horizontal or vertical application.
2. Installation Prep:
It important to let the panels acclimate to the room where they
will be installed at least 48 hours prior to installation.
The surface under the wall panels should be dry and in good
condition. If the surface does not meet these conditions, it
may be necessary to fur out or waterproof the entire wall.
When installing over masonry or concrete walls,
waterproofing should be applied prior to panel installation.
3. Installation:
Nailing: Recommended nail size is 18 gauge brad nails, 1” to
1-1/4” long. DO NOT NAIL THROUGH THE OVERLAPPING
SECTIONS. Use the nailing guide for proper nail placement.
See illustration below. Note: Vertical installations will need
additional furring strips placed 24” on center.
Water based construction adhesive: Follow instructions
included with the adhesive of your choice. Note: It is
advisable to place some nails to hold the panels in place
while the adhesive sets.
4. Touch Up / Finishing:
Should you have to place a nail in the visible area of the
panel, simply use laminate/vinyl putty in a complementary
color.
To smooth the cut edges of panels, lightly buff with 220 grit
sandpaper or 220 grit sanding sponge.
For easier installation, look for Rustic Accents trim
accessories.
