DAM CORNER-How to Use
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Dam Corners are for use at junction of curb and door jamb. Can be used with both PVC and CPE lines.
SHOWER PAN LINER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Sweep the floor broom clean. Make sure all sharp objects are removed and nails in subflooring are
firmly driven flush. The subfloor must be smooth, free of holes cracks, splinters or sharp projections.
NOTE: If you decide to slope the floor before installing sheeting follow this step, otherwise proceed
to step B.
Begin by applying mortar bed at 1⁄4'' per foot slope from the walls to the top of the drain base.
2. Install sheeting over the motor bed after it has cured. CAUTION: Do not slope the motor bed on top
of the sheeting. This bed of concrete should be an even thickness. A natural slope has been created
by the concrete bed under the sheeting.
3. If the wood subflooring is uneven, place one or two layers of 15 pound felt dry over it to provide a
smooth base for the Oatey PVC sheeting (Not needed over plywood or concrete.)
4. Line the shower floor or pan with Oatey PVC sheeting brand plastic waterproofing membrane. Turn
the sheet up all sidewalls to 3'' above the curb height or no less than 6'' above the finished floor level.
5. Fold corners do not cut against the upstand by making a pig ear fold. Nail or staple 1⁄2'' from upper
edge to hold it in place (see figure 2). Where metal studs or framing are used.
6. Where no backing is provided with the studs, the slack may be taken up by pleating and stapling or
nailing to the studding 1⁄2'' from the upper edge.
7. To adhere Oatey PVC sheeting to vertical surfaces, coat the back of the sheet and the surface to
which it will be supplied with adhesive. Allow the adhesive to become dry to the touch (5-10
minutes) and press the sheet into place.
Solvent welding provides a fast effective weld which is permanently waterproof for large areas. The Oatey
X-15 bonding adhesive partially dissolves and softens the plastic resin on the sheet surface. After the
solvent evaporates, the two sheets become one. A properly made joint is effective in one minute, altough
maximum strength takes several hours to develop.
SEAMING FOR LARGE SHOWERS
1. Clean surfaces to be joined from dirt, grease, and water.
2. Apply an even coating of x-15 Bonding Adhesive using a 2'' overlap on each surface with brush or
dauber.
3. For best instant strength on contact, allow coating to dry a minimum of 1 to 3 minutes in hot
weather and 6 to 8 minutes in cold weather before joining.
4. Immediately apply some weight after joining, using a 2'' x 4'' piece of wood over the freshly bonded
seam and hold with downward pressure for 15 to 30 seconds.
