Characteristics
• LEDs (light-emitting diodes) create light. These guarantee relatively strong light using little power and with a longer
life.
A light sensor automatically activates the night light when the room brightness falls below a certain value (e.g.
evenings).
• An integrated passive-infrared-motion sensor reacts to a person’s body heat and automatically turns on the LED light
in the dark as soon as a person enters its sensor range.
• You have the choice between three different night light functions:
ON (manual): The night light is switched on.
OFF: The night light is switched off
AUTO (automatic): The night light function is automatically activated by darkness. The night light shines when the
passive-infrared motion sensor detects movement. The light automatically turns off approx. 20
seconds after the last movement.
• Battery function or external power source via power cord (not included in delivery)
• Flexible use, as standing device or to hang on a wall

Battery use (Inserting and changing batteries)
Keep batteries away from children. When you insert the batteries, pay attention to the polarity
(notice the plus/+ and minus/-) Do not leave the batteries lying around in the open, as they can
easily be swallowed by pets and children. If a battery is swallowed, consult a doctor immedia-
tely. Make sure that the batteries are never short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire.
Danger of explosion! Conventional batteries should not be recharged. Danger of explosion!
Only recharge batteries that are marked rechargable.
Old or used batteries can leak chemicals that can damage the device. Therefore if the device is
not to be used for a long time (e.g. storage), remove the batteries. Empty or damaged batteries
can burn the skin, so use protective gloves when removing them. Always change all the bat-
teries at once, only use the same type and brand of batteries with the same amount of power
(do not mix full batteries with half-empty or empty ones). Do not mix batteries with recharge-
ables.
The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended, as the length of operation is much shorter
because of the lower voltage (rechargeable = 1.2V, battery = 1.5V) and power capacity. We therefore
recommend that you use high quality alkaline batteries in order to give the device a long and safe life.
You will find the battery compartment on the back of the device. Open the battery compartment by sliding the battery
compartment lid from the nightlight case. Insert 3 AA batteries (LR06 1.5V), matching up the poles. You will find the
pole markers (plus and minus) on the inscription inside the battery compartment. Use alkaline batteries for the longest
operation possible. Slide the battery compartment lid back onto the night light case and the lid will engage.
It is necessary to change the batteries when the light dims, the motion sensor range becomes drastically smaller or the
the automatic light no longer switches on correctly.

Operation under external voltage (power supply)
The night light can be powered by a power cord instead of batteries (not included in delivery). For this you will find the
connection socket on the side of the night light. If there are batteries in the device, remove them so that they will not
become old and leak and damage the product. Insert the appropriate low voltage power cable into the low voltage
socket (5) of the night light.
Suitable plug power supply:
Outgoing power: 4.5V stable equal voltage / outgoing power: min. 200mA
Polarity: The inside contact of the low voltage plug must be minus / the outer contact of the low voltage plug must be
plus.
Make sure you have the correct polarity and voltage, otherwise the device can become damaged.
Positioning the nightlight.
The device can be left standing or hung up. The motion sensor (PIR) has a range of approx. 5m and an angle of 100°.
The sensor cannot always pick up movement outside this area. The sensor’s range depends on the surrounding tem-
perature (the higher the temperature, the smaller the range), and the height of the placement. The positioning of the
nightlight should be between 1m and 1.5m high. Position the device so that the motion sensor’s range is centered, so
that the device can better recognize movement than if all movement is directly in front of the device. If there are heat
sources, like a space heater, oven, etc. near the device, then these can cause problems. Problems can also be trig-
gered by animals, moving objects and electrical interference. When deciding on the placement of the device, be aware
that other light sources can affect the automatic activation of the night light in the darkness.
Putting up the night light:
Place the night light in an appropriate location. Make sure it is secure.
Putting up the night light:
For the wall mounting hang the night light from the head of a screw over the corresponding opening on the back of the
device. Make sure that the mounting is secure, and that the chosen location is appropriate for the device.
Be careful, when drilling, that you do not damage any power, gas or water lines, Extreme Danger!
Depending on the composition of the wall, you may need to use a rawlplug. Make sure the device is
secured, as a fall could injure a person and damage the device.
Operation of device
Use the sliding switch (3) to choose the desired function.
ON: The device is switched on, the LEDs are always on.
OFF: The device is switched off.
AUTO:
This function is a combination of the integrated motion sensor and the light sensor. The built-in light sensor switches
on the night light when it senses movement. The built-in light sensor keeps the night light from being activated during
the day.
After the switch has been moved to the AUTO setting, the device needs approx. 30 seconds to warm up the motion
sensor. During this time, the night light is on (only when it is dark). After the warm-up phase the light goes off as long
as the motion sensor does not sense any movement. The automatic night light function is now active. The light will
switch on whenever a person enters the motion sensor field. The light will stay on as long as there is movement near
the sensor, and it will go off 20 seconds after the last movement is registered.
The night light function is only activated in darkness. During the daytime this product can only be
tested in dark rooms.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Except for an occasional battery change, this product requires practically no maintenance. Only a professional repair
shop should attempt to maintain or clean the device. On the surface the device should only be cleaned with a lightly
damp cloth or a dry brush. Under no circumstances should you use a harsh cleaning agent or chemical solvent, as this
could harm the outer case or the product’s ability to function.
Disposal
When disposing of the product at the end of its service life, please follow your regional regulations!
Disposal of used batteries/rechargeable batteries
As a consumer you are required (Battery Ordinance)to responsibly dispose of all used batteries and
rechargeable batteries;it is forbidden to throw them away with the normal household waste!
Batteries containing dangerous chemicals are marked with symbols indicating that they may not be
thrown away with the household waste. The crucial heavy metal terms are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg =
Mercury, Pb = Lead. (The terms are inscribed on the batteries e.g. under the left-hand waste symbols).
You can take your used batteries free of charge to your community’s collection point or any place
where batteries are sold!
In this way you are obeying the law and doing your part for the environment!
