3. Intended use
TheBWTwaterlteringsystemmayonlybeoperatedwithcoldwater
fulllingthelegalrequirementsmadeondrinkingwaterquality.
Thewaterlterisunsuitablefortheproductionofdrinkingwater;i.e.the
ltermaynotbeusedfortreatmentofcontaminatedwater.
TheBWTlteredwaterisintendedforshort-termuse.Itmaynotbeexposed
to direct radiation of the sun, is to be stored in a cool place and not longer
than24hours.Ifthelteredwateriskeptlongerthan24hoursinthewater
lteringsystem,whitemarksmayoccurinthejugthroughtheevaporation
of water, which can easily be removed through cleaning.
Afterlteringmorethan3litrescontinuously,a15minutepauseshouldbe
made.
Permanentwatercontacttotheltercartridgeisnotparticularlynecessaryin
ordertoguaranteelong-termoperationoftheltercartridge.Theltercart-
ridge continues to function, even if it is taken out of the water for some time.
If‚Ofcially‘youarerequestedtoboilthetapwaterduetocontamination
withgerms,thisstillappliestoBWTlteredwater.Whentheauthorities
classify the tap water again as harmless and release it for consumption, the
ltercartridgemustbechanged.Thewaterlteringsystemistobecleaned
(see chapter 6.1 and 8).
For certain groups of people, e.g. people with limited immune defence and
forthepreparationofbabyfood,theBWTlteredwateristobeboiled.
Forhygienicreasonstheltercartridgecontainssmallquantitiesofsilver,in
order to suppress the growth of germs. A small quantity of silver may be given
off to the water. It is harmless and in compliance with the corresponding re-
commendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) for potable water.
Theltercartridgeshouldbereplacedatleast8weeksafteritsrstuse.
Applianceforthetreatmentofdrinkingwater:
Attention:inordertoguaranteetherequisiteofdrinkabilityofthetreated
water and to maintain the improvements as declared by the manufacturer,
this appliance requires a regular and periodic maintenance.
4. Efciency of the lter cartridge
Theservicelifeoftheltercartridgevariesaccordingtothelocationwhereit
is used, as the quality of the water is not the same everywhere. The capacity of
theltercartridgedependsonthehardnessofthewater.Theharderthewater,
theearliertheltercartridgewillbeexhausted.

The substances mentioned e.g. lead and copper, which are reduced by the
lter,arenotalwayscontainedintapwater.
Theltercartridgefullsthemicrobiologicalrequirementsmadeonwaterlters
according to DIN 10521. The requirements according to DIN 10521 made on
chlorine,leadandcopperretentionarefullled.
BWT products are manufactured
according to the strictest quality
requirements. The production follows
the HACCP standards. The food
quality is monitored by independent
