BATTERY INSTALLATION Your UH039P unit uses the included NiMH battery pack for power. The unit can be powered with optional 4 AAA ALKALINE batteries. Before operating the UH039P, charge the battery pack for 16 hours. Do not charge alkaline or non rechargeable batteries. BELT CLIP To attach the belt clip: Slide the belt clip until it snaps into place. To remove the belt clip: To remove the belt clip, press and hold belt clip locker, slide the belt clip at the same time until released.
OPERATION POWER ON/OFF Press and hold to turn the radio on. A channel number will appear on the display. Press and hold to turn the radio off. VOLUME Press volume or to increase or decrease the volume level. 'VOL' icon appears on the display while volume is being adjusted. There are 8 volume levels. Level 0 (No Audio) to Level 7 (Maximum Volume). VOL hi/lo dup channel/ scan mon volume ADJUSTING THE KEY BEEPS Your radio emits a beep each time one of the keys (except for the PTT button) is pressed.
SELECTING CHANNEL Press channel/scan the desired channel. or to select hi/lo dup mon channel/ scan volume TO TRANSMIT AND RECEIVE The UH039P uses the 40 UHF-CB Channels. For your reference a list of the available channels and corresponding frequencies is printed on page 10. 1. Before you transmit, listen for activity on the selected channel. 2. When the channel is clear, press and hold the PTT to transmit. 'TX' appears on the LCD.
TRANSMIT Hi/Lo SELECT ! Press and hold for 2 seconds when the unit is in Transmit Lo and it will switch to Transmit Hi. 'HI' icon will appear on display. ! Press and hold for 2 seconds again to return to Transmit Lo setting. 'HI' icon will disappear from display. ! The RF transmit power of the UH039P is selectable Transmit Power 0.3/0.7 W. dup HI dup AUTOMATIC SQUELCH FEATURE The UH039P is equipped with an Automatic Squelch System which shuts off weak transmissions and unwanted noise.
TO OPERATE IN DUPLEX MODE (REPEATERS) The Duplex function enables you to access local repeater stations. You can only activate Duplex from CH01-CH08. UHF CB Repeaters are used to retransmit or relay your signal. Repeaters will extend the range of your radio and overcome the shielding effect caused by solid obstructions. Contact your retailer for a list of repeaters available in your area. Operation with the aid of a Repeater Press momentarily. The 'DUP' icon appears.
SCANNING The scan function scans all channels and stops at an active channel. When the signal stops, the UH039P waits 2 seconds (Reply Delay) before scanning resumes. To initiate scanning, 1. Assuming the unit is on CH01 when switched on. 2. Press and hold channel/scan or for 3 seconds and scanning starts and Scan icon is displayed. 3. Press or PTT to cancel. SCAN hi/lo dup channel/ scan mon volume If channel/scan or is pressed while the unit is paused on a channel, scanning is resumed.
REPLY DELAY While scanning, the UH039P stops at a busy channel and receives a transmission. When the received signal is over, the unit will wait for 2 seconds for the return of the signal, otherwise, the radio resumes scanning. VOX VOX is the automatic transmitting function by inputting voice into the optional VOX headset mic without pressing the PTT button. Press two times momentarily in Stand By mode to enter VOX Sensitivity mode.
