3.8 Interfacing with the Elk
If you have an Elk M1 alarm/automation panel installed, it can be configured to
communicate with the ISY. Once communication is established, you can:
- Arm/Disarm your Elk from the ISY’s web interface and Administrative Console
- Control Devices and Scenes stored on the ISY from your Elk (through Elk keypads,
programs stored on the Elk, etc.)
On the Elk side, you will need an Elk M1XEP which provides an Ethernet-interface for
your Elk. We highly recommend configuring your Elk with a static IP address (see your
Elk documentation for instructions). Using Elk’s ElkRP software, ensure that you enable
the Elk’s “Non-Secure” port in the M1XEP setup.
In the ISY’s Administrative Console, click the Configuration tab, then the Elk sub-tab,
then the Configuration sub-tab. This is where you can configure your Elk:
Type your Elk’s IP address in the appropriate field, and enter your Elk’s Non-Secure
Port (default is 2101). Then enter your Elk’s security code, and hit the SAVE button to
save your settings and initiate communications.
If successful, a “Security System” bar will appear on the top of your Administrative
Console showing you the current state of your Elk and allowing you to type your Elk’s
security code and arm/disarm it:
