1. Plug your TV, computer, or other
“master” device, into the MASTER
OUTLET.
The Master outlet is the "brains" of the
Energy Saving product. It automatically
senses when the connected device,
such as a computer or television has a
power drop, or goes into "standby" and
then automatically shuts off the power to the Energy Saving
Outlets. The Master outlet LED is green and is illuminated
all the time, showing that there is power to the outlet.
NOTE: If nothing is plugged into the Master outlet, or if the
item plugged into the Master outlet is turned off while the
Energy Saving Switch is in Energy Saving ON position,
there will be no power to the Energy Saving Outlets.
NOTE: When plugging in a device to the Master outlet, it
must generate a minimum of 30 watts in order for the
Master outlet to recognize something is plugged in and
know to keep power on to the Master and to the Energy
Saving outlets. When the Master outlet detects standby
power of 15 watts to 25 watts, it will know to go into Energy
Saving mode and shut down the Master and the Energy
Saving outlets.

HOW THE ENERGY SAVING SURGE PROTECTOR WORKS/CÓMO FUNCIONA EL

Although the outlets on the Energy Saving surge protector are labeled for specific devices, these labels are only a guide.
Plugging a different device into an ALWAYS ON or ENERGY SAVING OUTLET will not affect the device or the surge protector.

2. Plug devices such as a
monitor, printer, amplifier,
video game console or
speakers into the
ENERGY SAVING
OUTLETS.
These outlets should be
used with devices that
can be completely turned off when not in use. When
there is power to these outlets the blue LED will be
illuminated. The blue LED will turn off when the surge
protector is in Energy Saving mode and the device
plugged into the Master outlet is turned off.

want to stay on, such as
a fax machine, digital
video recorder (DVR) or
router into the ALWAYS
ON outlets.
These outlets are always
on and are not controlled by the Master outlet. The
Always On outlets are outlined in red and have two
green LEDs that are illuminated as long as there is
power to the surge protector.

4. The ENERGY SAVING SWITCH is
located near the top of the housing.
It allows the user to select the
Energy Saving On function or the
Surge Protection Only function. This
switch is solid red and does not light
up. When the switch is pushed to the
Energy Saving On position the Energy
Saving function is activated and the item in the Master
outlet will control the Energy Saving Outlets. There is
still active surge protection to all outlets in this mode.
When the switch is pushed to Surge Protection Only
position, the Energy Saving function is bypassed so
all the outlets will be on all the time. In this position the
unit will function as a surge protector only with no
energy savings. The Energy Saving Switch allows the
user complete control over the device.

The auto shut-off safeguard feature cuts power from the surge protector to the connected equipment in the event of a
catastrophic surge or when the unit has absorbed as much excess energy as it can, thus ensuring that no more
damaging surges get through to the connected equipment.

INDICATOR LIGHTS/LUCES INDICADORAS
• The “protected” light (RED) should be on when the power switch is turned on. If this light goes out at any time, it
means that your surge protector has served its purpose and protected your equipment, so it should be replaced.
• The “grounded” light (GREEN) should be on when the power switch is turned on. If this light does not come on when
you plug in your surge protector, you may have a ground-wiring problem and you should contact an electrician to
properly ground the outlet. Connecting the surge protector to an improperly grounded outlet will void all warranties.

Plug your surge protector into a grounded outlet only. Find a dry, indoor location that allows all power cords to reach the
surge protector. All connected equipment should be plugged directly into your surge protector. Using an extension cord to
connect the surge protector to the wall outlet will void all warranties.
1. Turn OFF power to all the equipment. Plug the surge protector into a properly grounded AC receptacle.
2. Plug in one of the pieces of equipment. Turn the surge protector ON. Turn the equipment ON. Check to see if the
equipment is working correctly. If the equipment is working correctly, continue to plug in and turn on the rest of the
equipment.
If there are any problems in getting the surge protector to work properly, stop and read the troubleshooting section of
these instructions. If you continue to experience any problems, please contact Technical Support toll free at

1. If you would like to mount the strip (A) to a
wall, create a mounting template by placing
a sheet of paper over the back of the strip
(A) and punching holes in the paper where
the mounting holes are on the back of the
strip (A).

2. Temporarily secure the paper template
(with painter’s tape or another method that

area where the strip (A) is to be mounted.
Drill two 3/32 in. pilot holes. Remove the
paper template.
