MEMO CHAPTER 11 SAFETY INFORMATION CHAPTER 11 SAFETY INFORMATION Read this information before using your handheld portable Cellular Telephone.
SAFETY SAFETY INFORMATION FOR WIRELESS HANDHELD PHONES Read This Information Before Using Your Handheld Portable Cellular Telephone DRIVING SAFETY Talking on the phone while driving is extremely dangerous and is illegal in some states. Remember, safety comes first. Check the laws and regulations on the use of phones in the areas where you drive. Always obey them.If you must use your phone while driving, please: • Give full attention to driving. Driving safely is your first responsibility.
SAFETY SAFETY HEARING AIDS AIRCRAFT Some digital wireless phones may interfere with some hearing aids. In the event of such interference, you may want to consult your service provider (or call the customer service line to discuss alternatives). FCC regulations prohibit using your phone while in the air. Turn your phone OFF before boarding an aircraft. Always request and obtain prior consent and approval of an authorized airline representative before using your phone aboard an aircraft.
SAFETY SAFETY INFORMATION FOR FCC RF EXPOSURE Warning! Read this information before using your phone. In August 1996 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States with its action in Report and Order FCC 96-326 adopted an updated safety standard for human exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC regulated transmitters. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standard previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies.
SAFETY The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. The highest SAR value for this model phone when tested for use at the ear is 0.932 W/Kg and when worn on the body, as described in this user guide, is 1.14 W/Kg. (Body-worn measurements differ among phone models, depending upon available accessories and FCC requirements).
SAFETY SAFETY Many studies of low level RF exposures have not found any biological effects. Some studies have suggested that some biological effects may occur, but such findings have not been confirmed by additional research. In some cases, other researchers have had difficulty in reproducing those studies, or in determining the reasons for inconsistent results.
SAFETY However, many of the studies that showed increased tumor development used animals that had been genetically engineered or treated with cancer-causing chemicals so as to be pre-disposed to develop cancer in the absence of RF exposure.Other studies exposed the animals to RF for up to 22 hours per day. These conditions are not similar to the conditions under which people use wireless phones, so we don’t know with certainty what the results of such studies mean for human health.
SAFETY 7. What steps can I take to reduce my exposure to radiofrequency energy from my wireless phone? If there is a risk from these products--and at this point we do not know that there is--it is probably very small. But if you are concerned about avoiding even potential risks, you can take a few simple steps to minimize your exposure to radiofrequency energy (RF).
SAFETY Studies have shown that these products generally do not work as advertised. Unlike “hand-free” kits, these so-called “shields” may interfere with proper operation of the phone. The phone may be forced to boost its power to compensate, leading to an increase in RF absorption. In February 2002, the Federal trade Commission (FTC) charged two companies that sold devices that claimed to protect wireless phone users from radiation with making false and unsubstantiated claims.
SAFETY Generally, the rules require that carriers identify an E911 caller’s location within 50 meters of the actual location for 67 percent of calls and within 150 meters of the actual location for 95 percent of calls. CDM7176M’s ALI Capability The CDM7176M is an ALI-capable phone equipped with a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver supporting a satellite-based GPS ALIcapable network to comply with the FCC’s ALI requirements.
SAFETY SAFETY GENERAL SAFETY ANTENNA PRECAUTIONS ANTENNA SAFETY Your Handheld Portable Telephone is a high quality piece of equipment. Before operating, read all instructions and cautionary markings on the product, battery and adapter/charger. Use only the supplied or an approved replacement antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damage the phone, or result in violation of FCC regulations. Please contact your local dealer for replacement antenna.
SAFETY SAFETY • Completely drain the battery before recharging. It may take one to four days to completely drain. ADAPTER/CHARGER • Store the discharged battery in a cool, dark, and dry place. CHARGER • Purchase a new battery when its operating time gradually decreases after fully charging. The charger designed by UTStarcom for this unit requires the use of a standard 120 V AC power source for its operation. • Properly dispose of the battery according to local regulations.
SAFETY Handling the cord on this product or cords associated with accessories sold with this product, will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling. Always disconnect the charger from the power source when it is not in use. FCC HEARING-AID COMPATIBILITY (HAC) REGULATIONS FOR WIRELESS DEVICES On July 10, 2003, the U.S.
