Safely Reducing Clearances
to Walls and Ceilings
It is often desirable to reduce installa-
tion clearances by placing the heater
closer to the wall in order to take up less
oor space. It is possible to safely reduce
clearances by permanently installing a
protective shield between the stove and
ammable materials. Rules governing
protective shields are sometimes com-
plicated; read and follow them carefully.
Note that there may be slight regional
dierences in the rules for reducing
clearances; check with your building or
re protection inspector before starting
any work.
