About This Variety: Asclepia tuberosa, commonly called butterfly weed, features bright orange flower clusters and lance-shaped leaves. Popular native plant. This specific variety is the most drought tolerant of all. It is a herbaceous perennial. Tropical, multitasking milk weed attracts monarch butterflies that use the plant as a source for nectar. Monarch butterflies lay eggs on the plant, and in turn, the resulting larvae (caterpillars) use the plant leaves as a food source.
