Electronic air conditioning system
The electronic air conditioning system
provides maximum comfort under any
weather conditions, at any outside
temperature and at all times of the year.
To ensure a con stant and comfortable c limat e
in th e vehicle, the tempe rature of the inflowing
air, the air-flow ra te and the air distribu tion are
changed a utomatically ac cording to climatic
conditions outside the ve hicle.
The air is automat ically regulated in
ac cordance w ith the settings personally
selected for the driver and passenger sides.
Temperature c hanges due to ext ernal
influe nces, such as dire ct sunlight, are
automatically compensated.
When the cooling unit (cooling compressor) is
on, the air is cooled and de humidified.
When no cooling or drying is required, press
the ECO button to save fuel – see page 130.
The pollen filter removes dust, soot, pollen
and spores from the inflowing outside air. Its
activated charcoal coating cleans the air of
odours and polluting environmental gases.
The automatic air circulation system 3 has an
air quality sensor to detect harmful gases in
the outside air, in which case it switches
au to matically to re-cir culatio n.
When set t o automat ic mode , the electronic
air conditioning system provides the optimum
settings under almost all conditions. If
necessary, the system can be influenced
manually.
The electronic air conditioning system is only
fully operational when the engine is running.
Operation with the c ooling unit is only
possible at temperatures above approx. 5 °C.
Below this temperature the cooling u nit
(c ooling compressor) sw itch es off
automatically.
