Control indicator Z for exhaust emission
Lights up when ignition is switched on and
remains illuminated during starting. Goes out
shortly after engine starts.
If it lights up when the engine is running there
is a fault in the emission control system. The
permissible e mission limits may be exceeded.
Consult a Vau xh all Dealership immediately.
If it flashes wh en the engine is running a fa ult
has occurred which may damage the catalytic
co nve rter. You can co nt inue driving wit ho ut
causing damage, provided you lift your foot
off the ac celerator until the indicator stops
flashing and is steadily lit. Consult a Vauxhall
Dealership immedia tely.

switch ed on.
If it light s up w hen t he e ng ine i s ru nnin g, t her e
is a fa ult in the engine or transmission
electronic s. The electronics switch to limp-
home mode, fuel consumption may increase
and the driveability of the vehicle may be
affected.
In some cases the fault can be eliminated by
switch ing the engine off and back on again. If
the control indicator again lights up when the
eng ine is ru nn in g, co nsu lt a Vauxh all
De alership to have the cause of the fa ult
eliminated.
If it lights up brie fly and then goes out again
this is of no significance.
If it flashes when the ign ition is on t here is a
fault in the immobilizer system – see page 51.
