Switching off the TC
In certain circumstances where slippage of
the driving wheels is required, i.e. slight
spinning of the wh eels is desired, for example
z when driving with tyre chains or
z driving in deep snow or
z rocking the vehicle to free it from deep
snow,
it may be advisable to switch off the TC by
pressing button =. The control indicator =
lights up to show that the system has been
switched off.
The system is switched on again by pressing
button = again or when the ignition is nex t
turned on.
Control indicator =
Lights up for a f ew se conds whe n ignitio n is
switched on. The system is now ready for
operat ion.
On vehicles with ESP 3, control indicat or = in
the instrument panel is replaced with v; see
next pag e.
Flashing during driving:
This shows the system has come into action.
The e ngine output ma y be redu ced (the sound
of the e ngine c hange s) and the vehicle may
be braked automatically to a sma ll degree.
Lit during driving:
Fault in TC syste m. Vehicle can c ontinue to be
driven. Driving stability may be worse if
driving style is not adapted, depending on
ac celeration an d type of road surf ace
because of drive wheel spinning.
To have the f ault rectifie d, consu lt a Va uxh all
Dealership. The system's integral self-
diagnosis facility allows faults to be quickly
remedied.
