The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) 3
continuously monitors the vehicle ’s bra ke
system and prevents the wheels from locking,
regardless of the road condition and tyre grip.
It starts to regulate the braking pressure as
soon as a wheel shows a tendency to lock.
The vehicle rema ins steerable, e ven in the
event of very heavy braking, f or in stance on
bends or when swerving to avoid an obstacle.
Even in the case of full- on brak ing, the A BS
makes it possible to drive round an obstacle
with ou t re le asing th e br ake s.
ABS control is made apparent though a pulse
in the brake pedal and the noise of the
re gu la tio n p r oce ss.
To ac hieve optimum braking, keep the
brak e pedal fully depressed throughout the
brak ing process, de spite the fact that the
pe da l i s pu l sat in g. Do n ot r ed uce th e
pr essu re o n t he pe d al.
