Tread depth
Check tread depth regularly. Should the front
tyres show greater wear than the rea r tyres,
have both front whee ls exchanged w ith the
rear whee ls so that t he tyres with deeper tread
are on the f ront axle .
For safety reasons, tyres should be replaced
wh en their tread depth has worn down to 2 to
3 mm (for winter tyres: 4 mm).
The legally permissible minimum tread depth
(1.6 mm) has been reached when the tre ad
has worn down as far as one of the wear
indicators. A number of we ar indicators are
spaced at e qual intervals around the tyre
within the tread. Their position is indicated by
ma rk in gs on th e t yre sid ewall.
General information
z The dan ger of aquaplanin g is greater if the
tyres are worn.
z Tyres a ge, eve n if they are used only ve ry
little or not at all. A spare wheel which has
not been used for six years should be used
only in emergencies; drive slowly when
using such tyres.
z Never fit used tyres the previous history
and use of which you do not know.
z So as not to impair brake cooling, use only
whee l covers approved for use on your
vehicle.

65 = Aspect ratio
(tyre h eig ht to t yre width) in %
R = Belt type: Radial
15 = Wheel diamet er in inches
91 = Load index
V = Speed code
Spee d code letters:
Q Up to 100 mph (160 km/h)
S Up to 112 mph (180 km/h)
T Up to 118 mph (190 km/h)
H Up to 130 mph (210 km/h)
V Up to 150 mph (240 km/h)
W Up to 168 mph (270 km/h)
