The spare whee l is fitted with a sma lle r tyre on
a stee l rim. If you use the spare wheel the
vehicle's handling may be altered. Obtain a
repla cemen t for the fa ulty tyre a s soo n as
possible, and have the wheel balanced and
fitted to the ve hicle.

The spare whee l is fitted with a sma lle r tyre on
a stee l wheel. It may only be used as a
temporary spare wheel.
Notes on the temporary spare wheel 3
z Fit only one temporary spare wheel.
z Do not drive faster than 50 mph (80 km/h).
z Take bends slowly.
z Do not use the temporary spare wheel for a
lengthy period.
z Replace temporary spare wheel with
repa ired wheel without delay.
z Do not use tyre c hains. If you need to u se
tyre chains af ter suffe ring a f lat rea r tyre , fit
the temporary spare wheel on the front axle
and tra nsfer one of the front wheels to the
rear axle. Adjust tyre inflation pressure.
Wheel changing
In orde r to reduce the c hance of possible
injurie s, make the f ollowing preparations and
no te the proce du r e:
z Park on a level, firm and non-slippery
surf ace.
z Switch on the hazard warning lights and
apply the h and brake . For automatic
transmission 3, set the selector lever to
position P, or for manual transmission,
engage first gear or reverse.
z Correctly set up warning triangle. Warning
triangle see page 178.
z Remove spare wh eel from boot.
z Before raising the ve hicle, set the front
wh eels to the straight-ahead position.
z Never c hange more than one wheel at
once.
z Block wh eel that is diagonally opposite to
wheel being changed by placing wedges or
suitable objects in front of and behind the
wheel.
z Use the ja ck only to cha nge wheels.
z If the ground on which the vehicle is
standing is sof t, a solid board ( ma x. 1 cm
thic k) should be plac ed under the jac k.

z No people or animals may be in the vehicle
when it is ja cked u p.
z Never crawl under a ja cked-up vehicle .
z Do not start or run the engine while the
vehicle is on t he jack.
