Washing
The paintwork of your vehicle is exposed to
en vironmenta l influe nce s, e. g. co nt inuo us
changes in weather conditions, industrial
waste gases and dust or thawing salts, so
wash and wax your vehicle regularly. When
usin g automatic c ar washes, sele ct a
programme which includes waxing.
Bird droppings, dead insects, resin, pollen
an d other contamina tes should be clea ned of f
imme dia tely, as they can contain a ggressive
constituents whic h can cau se paint damage.
When using car washes, follow the relevant
inst ru ctions of the c ar wash facility. The
windscreen wipers or a utomatic wiper system
with rain sensor 3 and the re ar window wipers
3 must be switched off; see page 16. Remove
the aerial 3 and the roof rac k 3.
If you wash your vehicle by hand, use Car
Shampoo. Mak e sure that the insides of the
wings are also thoroughly rinsed ou t.
Clean edges and folds on opened doors and
flaps as well as the areas they cover.
Thoroughly rinse off and le ather-off the
vehicle. Rinse leathe r frequently. Use
separate leathers for paint and window
surfac es: remnants of wax on the windows
will impair vision.
Observe national regulations.
Waxing
Wax your ve hicle regularly, in particular after it
has been washed using shampoo and at the
latest when water no longer forms beads on
the paintwork, otherwise the paintwork will
dry out.

Polishi ng
Polishing is necessary only if the paint has
become dull or if solid deposits have become
attach ed to it.
Polish with Silicone forms a protective film,
makin g w axing un ne cessa ry.
Plastic body parts should not be treated with
wa x an d po l ish .
Use Wax for Metallic Paintwork on vehicles
with a metallic-effect paint finish.
Wheels
Use a pH-neutral wheel cleaning agent to
clean the wheels.
Whee ls are painted and can be treated with
the same agents as the body. For alloy wheels
we re comme nd the u se of Alloy Wheel
Clean er.
