Oil pr essure
Control indicator lights up when ignition is
switched on. Goes out shortly after engine
starts. Can light up intermittently when idling
with hot engine; must go out wh en engine
speed is in creased.
If it lights up whe n t he engine is runn ing:
Engine lubrication may be interrupted. This
may result in damage to the engine and/or
locking of the drive wh eels:
1. Depress clutch.
2. Move gearshift lever to neutral, or with
automatic transmission 3 pla ce se le ctor
lever in N.
3. Navigate out of moving traffic as quickly as
possible without impeding other ve hicles.
4. Swit ch of f t he ig nit ion (positio n I ).

Control indicator lights up for a few seconds
wh en ignition is switched on.
If it lights up when the engine is running:
Fau lt in the en gin e e lect ronics or tran smissio n
electronics system. The electronic system
switches to an emergency running
programme. Fuel consumption may be
incre ased an d the driveability of the vehicle
may be impaired; se e page 150. If there is a
fault in the transmission electronics system,
switch to manual gears; se e page 138.

If it flashes when the ignition is on:
Fault in the electronic immobilizer system; the
engin e c annot be started – see pa ge 51.
When the ign ition is off , considerably more
force is needed to brake and steer.
Do not remove key until vehicle has come
to a standstill, otherwise the steering
column lock could engage une xpectedly.
