When triggered, t he front airbags inflate in
millisecon ds to form a saf ety cush ion for the
driver and front passenger. The forward
movement of the front seat occupants is
checked, thereby substantially reducing the
risk of injury to the u pper body and head.
No impairmen t of view will occur, becau se the
airba gs in flate a nd deflate so quic kly.
The front airbag syste m will not be triggered in
the even t of
z the ignition being switched off
z minor frontal collisions
z accidents in which the vehicle overturns
z collisions involving a side or rear impact
wh ere it wou ld no t b e of be ne fit t o th e
occupants.

The front airbag system provides optimum
protection when the seat, bac krest and
head restrain t are correctly adjusted:
Adjust the driver's seat a ccording to the
occupa nt's he ight suc h that with the driver
sitting upright the steering wheel is held in
the area of its upper spok es with the
driver's arms slightly bent. The front
passenger' s seat should be as far ba ck as
possible, with the backrest upright – see
pages 5, 5 , 63. Do not place the head,
body, hands or f eet on the covers of the
airbag systems.
