When triggered, t he side airba g inflates in
millisecon ds to form a saf ety cush ion for the
driver or front pa ssenger in the respective
door area. This substantially reduces the risk
of injury to the u ppe r body in the event of a
side-on collision.
The side airbags will not be triggered in the
event of
z the ignition being switched off
z frontal collisions
z accidents in which the vehicle overturn s
z collisions involving a rear impact
z collisions involving a side impact outside
the passenger ce ll.
In addition, the side airbag system will not be
triggered for the front passenger in versions
with seat occupa ncy recognition 3 if
z the front passe nger's seat is u nocc upied
z there is a properly fitted Vauxhall c hild
restraint system with transponders 3. Seat
occupancy re cognition – see page 9 0.

Control indicator v for airbag systems
The front airbag system and the side airbag
system 3 are mon itore d elect ronic ally
together with seat occupancy re cognition 3
and the belt tensione rs. Their operational
re adiness is sh own by control indicator v in
the instrument panel.
When t he ignition is switch ed on, the control
indicator lights up for approx. 4 seconds. If it
does not light up, if it does not go out after
4 seconds or if it lights up during driving, there
is a fault in the airbag systems, the seat
occupancy recognition 3 or the belt
tensioners – see page 81. The systems may
fail to be triggered in an ac cident.
The system's integral self-diagnosis facility
allows faults to be quickly remedied. Have
your Ca r Pa ss rea dy t o hand wh en consu lting
a Vauxhall Dealership.
There must be n o objects in the area in
which the a irbag inflates or in the area
betwee n the seat bac ks an d the vehicle
body. Do not place the han ds or arms on
the covers of the airbag systems. Important
informat ion, se e page 9 2.
The t hree-point seat belt must always be
correctly fitted – see page 82.
In case of a fault have the systems checked
without delay by a Vauxhall Dealership.
