Side Airb ag 3
The side airbag system is identified by the
word AIRBAG on the outboard sides of the
front seat backrests.
The side airbag system comprises:
z an airbag with infla tor in the back of the
driver's and front passenger's seat
respectively,
z th e control e lectronics,
z th e side impact se n so rs,
z the airbag systems control indicator v in
the instrum ent panel,
z seat occ upa ncy recog nition 3,
z the control indicator for Va uxha ll child
restraint systems y with transp on-
ders 3 in the courtesy lamp.
The side airbag sy stem will be triggered:
z depending on the severity of the
accident
z depending on the type of im pact
z within the range shown in the illustration
on the driver's door or front passenger
door
z ind ependently of the front airbag
sy ste m.
Exception: Pa ssenger seat with seat
occupancy recognition system 3. The seat
occupancy recognition system dea ctivates
the pa ssenger front and side airbags if the
passenger seat is unoccupied or a
Vauxhall child restraint system with
transponders 3 has been fitted to the

Seat belts must therefore always be
worn. The front airbag system serves to
supplement the three-point seat belts. If
you do not wea r your seat be lt you risk
being seriously injured, or even thrown
from the ve hic le, in the ev ent of an
accident.
In the event of an accident the belt helps
to keep you in the correct seating
position, so that the front airb ag system
can provide you with effe ctive
protection.
