Service, maintenance 15 1
The illustrations show checking and
replenishing the engine oil in the petrol and
diesel engines respectively.
To check the level, rem ove the engine oil
gauge (dipstick), wipe it clean (use a fibre-
free material) and re-insert it as far as it will
go.
Engine oil level check and topping up
The engine oil level must be checked with
the vehicle horizontal and with the engine
(w hich m ust be at operating temperature)
switched off. Wait approx. 10 m inutes
before checking the level, to allow the
normal oil accumulation in the engine to
drain back into the oil pan.
On F9Q engines, the engine oil gauge is
mounted on the oil filler cap which m ust be
rotated anticlockwise to open.
For M9R engines, rotate ca p anticlockwise,
remove the engine oil g auge, wip e it clean
and re-insert it as far as it will go.

Important: It is the owner’s responsibility
to maintain the correct level of an
appropriate quality oil in the engine.
