Connecting the pump
There are two connections on the filter lid, both fitted with a hose socket. Connect the pump to the
outermost socket. Use a hose with a diameter that corresponds with the diameter of the pump out-
let. Saw off the unused diameters on the hose socket. The socket in the center of the lid is the
discharge to the pond. Connect an appropriately sized hose to the largest socket diameter. Saw off
the other diameters. The use of hose clips is recommended to prevent the hoses slipping off.
The maximum pump output for the VEX-100 is 3,000 l/h.
The maximum pump output for the VEX-200 is 6,000 l/h.
The maximum pump output for the VEX-300 is 8,000 l/h.
After the filter has been positioned correctly and the pump has been connected, the built-in UV-C
Unit can be switched on.
The UV-C Unit
The VEX Pond Filters are supplied complete with a built-in UV-C Unit; the VEX-100 with a 7 Watt
Unit, the VEX-200 with a 9 Watt Unit and the VEX-300 with an 11 Watt Unit. The UV-C PL lamps
have a service life of approx. 7,000 hours. This corresponds with a seasonal use from March to
November. The UV-C lamps can be easily replaced by unscrewing the screws in the spherical part
of the lid. It is recommended that a new UV-C PL lamp be fitted at the start of the season. The
advantages of UV-C are meanwhile widely known; it clarifies green water and is an excellent aid
in combating bacterial infections. The VEX filters have a separate chamber, which prevents the
UV-C radiation coming into contact with the filter materials. So the micro-organisms in the filter
material are not harmed.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of the VEX filters is extremely simple. While the dirt indicator remains green, water
flow through the filter is uninhibited. When the indicator turns red, it means the filter material is
clogging up, so reducing the filter volume. By attaching the pump to the outflow socket, most of the
dirt will now be back-flushed out of the filter. If following this action the dirt indicator is still red, the
filter materials will need to be rinsed clean by hand under running water. If due to circumstances
the water supply to the filter is cut off for four hours or more, the filter material should first be rinsed
before recommencing filtration. This prevents micro-organisms killed by a lack of oxygen being
flushed into the pond.
GUARANTEE
Vijvertechniek Nederland warrants performance as described above if the filter is correctly assem-
bled and correctly maintained. The warranty period for these pond filters is therefore two years.
The warranty does not cover the rubber sealing ring or the clamp on the filter, nor the UV-C PL
lamp and filter materials. Also excluded from warranty cover is the use of the filter in combination
with oil, petrol or lubricants. Frost damage is not covered either. Claims under the warranty will on-
ly be considered if a dated purchase receipt can be produced. See enclosed warranty card.
