1. Introduction

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its
lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as
unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This
device should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling service. Respect the
local environmental rules.
If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.

device into service. If the device was damaged in transit, do not install or use it and contact your
dealer. Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the
warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensu ing defects or problems.
The safe is quite heav y, unpacking and inst alling should be done by 2 adult persons
together.
2. General Guidelines
Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warran t y on the last pages of this manual.
• Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.
• All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user
modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.
• Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the
warranty.
• Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and
the dealer will not accept responsibili ty for any ensuing defects or problems.
3. Operation
Refer to the illustrations at page 2 of this manual.
Opening the safe for the first time
• Remove the keyhole cover [D] by inserting a small screwdriver into the keyhole cover release
mechanism to push on the release button [E].
• Insert the override key and turn it counter clockwise.
• Turn the rotary knob [A] clockwise and pull to open the safe.
• Place the keyhole cover [D] back. Note that it fits in only one way.
Note: DO NOT keep the override key(s) inside the safe!
Installing/replacing batteries
• The safe requires 4x AA batteries (type R06); alkaline batteries are recommended. Typically
batteries will last f o r ±1 year.
• The battery status is indicated on the display. When the battery-low icon ( ) is shown, replace
the batteries.
• Open the battery cover [F].
• Remove the old batteries if necessary.
WARNING:
Do not puncture or throw batteries in fire as they might explode.
Dispose of batteries in accordance with local regulations.
Keep batteries away from children.
• Insert 4 new 1.5V type AA batteries (R06), following the polarity markings inside th e battery
compartment.
• The display lights up amber and the status of the electronic lock is verified. When all tests hav e
passed, the display [B] indicates ‘ALL READY’ for ±1s aft er which it will go into standby-mode
showing year, month, date and time.
• Place the battery cover [F] back.
Opening the safe after battery installation
• Press the -button on the keypad [C]. The display will show “- - - - - - - -”.
• Enter the factory preset code “1234”. Confirm by pressing the -button.
