Y our new VTTEST7 is a sens itive and ac curat e devic e for testing batter ies under char ge. You can t es t standard z inc
car bon, alkaline, mercury, silver ox ide, lithium and nick el cadm ium batter ies.
2. Operation
a) Select the correc t bat ter y type and voltage w ith t he recessed range sw itch. Examples:
- move the r ange s elector to t he pos it ion labelled "1. 5V AA-C-D " if you w ish to t es t AA-, C- or D-batteries of 1.5V.
- select t he "9V"-position t o test r ectangular 9V-batteries.
- select t he "BU TTO N CELL 1.5V"-position to test mercur y, silver or alkaline button cells.
- select t he "LITHIUM 3V"-position f or lithium button cells.
- select t he "1.5V AA-C-D"-posit ion to t es t nickel cadmium batter ies of 1.25V and read the value on t he low es t of
t he thr ee s cales on the analogue display.
The value ind icated on the meter is the load cur rent drain placed on the battery dur ing the check.
CAUTION: Selecting the w rong range will yield inaccur ate result s. You may also damage the device in the pr oc ess .
b) P lace the r ed probe t ip (+) against the posit ive (+) battery t erminal and t he black probe t ip ( -) against t he negative ( -)
bat ter y terminal.
CAUTION : Mind the polarity indicat ions when t esting your batteries!
Select the correc t r ange (see above) . U s e the f ollow ing procedur e to t es t your batt eries:
- P lace the batt ery's negative ( -) t erminal against the VTTEST7' s negative ( -) contact and t ouch the bat ter y's
posit ive (+) t erminal w ith t he red probe t ip (+).
- I n order to test r ectangular 9V-batt eries : place the bat ter y's negative ( -) t erminal against the VTTEST7's negat ive
(-) cont ac t and place t he battery's positive (+ ) ter minal against the VTTEST7's pos itive (+) contact .
- In order to test button c ell batteries: insert the batt ery in t he s lot on t he side of t he device. M ake s ure the negative
(-) pole is fac ing up and pr es s the br own sw itch on the front panel.
CAUTION : Obs erve t he following safety pr esc riptions in order to avoid all damage to t he butt on c ell being t ested:
- D o not push the brown sw itch w hen us ing the probe tips to test a but ton cell.
- D o not allow the r ed probe tip ( +) to contact the black probe t ip (-) when using t he 9V-contacts to test button cells.
c) R ead the analogue displ ay to deter mine the condition of the batt ery.
- U se the upper s cale ("R EGULAR" ) f or measuring regular z inc carbon and alkalin e batteries.
- U se the centr e sc ale ( "BUTTON CE LL - LITH IU M ") f or measuring mercur y, silver ox ide, alkal ine and lit hium
button cells.
- U se the low er scale ( "NI CK EL C ADMIUM " ) f or measuring rechargeable nickel cadmium batter ies.
