SETUP Check the Type of Video Input on Your TV To view high definition content, use the HDMI OUTPUT jack or the COMPONENT VIDEO OUTPUT jacks to connect to a TV. Some discs may require use of the HDMI OUTPUT jack.
SETUP • HDMI output is digital only. DVI analog is not supported. • HDMI is an evolving technology, so some devices may not operate properly with this player. • To get the most possible benefit from Dolby Digital Plus, you should connect your HD DVD player to your AV receiver using its HDMI input. If your AV receiver has this type of input, make sure it is connected to your HD DVD player and that the input is set to use audio from HDMI (and not the SPDIF coaxial or optical input).
SETUP Note: This player supports simultaneous output of video on its HDMI and component video ports. However, some discs may restrict output of video on the component video ports when viewing high definition content or up-converted DVD content. The resolution on the HDMI output will be the same as the resolution output on the component video output.
SETUP Caution • When plugging or unplugging the LAN cable, hold the plug portion of the cable. • When unplugging the LAN cable, do not pull on it. Unplug the cord while pressing down on the lock. • Do not connect a modular phone cable to the LAN port. • Since there are various connection configurations, please follow the specifications of your telecommunication carrier or internet service provider.
PLAYING A DISC This owner’s manual explains the basic instructions of this unit. Some DVDs are produced in a manner that allows specific or limited operation during playback. Such as, the unit may not respond to all operating commands. This is not a defect in the unit. Refer to the instruction notes of discs. “ ” may appear on the screen during operation. A “ ” means that the desired operation is not permitted by the unit or disc. Playing a Disc 1. Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn on the unit.
PLAYING A DISC Slow-motion Play 1. Press the SLOW button on the remote in play mode. • Three speeds are available. Each time the SLOW button is pressed, the speed of slow-motion playback changes in the following sequence: X X X X 2. Press the PLAY button to return to normal playback speed. Angle Selection Some DVDs contain scenes that have been shot from a number of different angles. For these discs, the same scene can be viewed from each of these different angles. 1.
PLAYING A DISC Repeat Playback 1. Press the REPEAT button on the remote control. The repeat modes are listed. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS Display Function While the disc is playing, press the DISPLAY button on the remote control to display information on operation status. After confirming, press the DISPLAY button to turn off the display. DVD Chapter number Title number e.g.
SPECIAL FUNCTIONS Locating a Specific Time • You can move to a specific location by entering its corresponding time (hours, minutes, seconds). 1. Press the SEARCH button on the remote control. 2. Use the or button to select chapter/track then press the corresponding number button(s) for the setting point you want. 3. Press the ENTER button to confirm. The Unit will start playback about 3 seconds later.
CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION SETTINGS You can change the default settings to customize performance to your preference. Picture TV Shape 1. In STOP mode, press the SETUP button on the remote control. 2. Use the or button to select Picture, then press the OK button. 3. Use the or button to select TV Shape, then press the OK button. 4. Use the or button to select option (16:9, 4:3 or 4:3 Letter Box), then press the OK button. 5. Press the SETUP button to exit menu.

Use the or button to select RGB Output Range, then press the OK button. 4. Use the or button to select the options (Standard or Enhanced), then press the OK button. 5. Press the SETUP button to exit menu. Standard: Enhanced: For a monitor of RGB range 16-235. For a monitor of RGB range 0-255.
CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION SETTINGS Resolution Setting To select the resolution of the player’s output according to the connected TV. 1. In STOP mode, press the SETUP button on the remote control. 2. Use the or button to select Picture, then press the OK button. 3. Use the or button to select Resolution Setting, then press the OK button. 4. Use the or button to make adjustments, then press the OK button. 5. Press the SETUP button to exit menu.
CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION SETTINGS Bitstream: Select this when an AV receiver or processor equipped with built-in Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG decoder is connected to this player. When you play a disc recorded in Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby TrueHD format, Dolby Digital sound is output. When you play a disc recorded in DTS-HD format, the sound is converted to a DTS bitstream. If the AV receiver or processor does not support DTS, select “PCM”.
CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION SETTINGS Dynamic Range Control To turn on or off a function that makes faint sounds easier to hear even if you lower the volume during late hour playback. 1. In STOP mode, press the SETUP button on the remote control. 2. Use the or button to select Audio, then press the OK button. 3. Use the or button to select Dynamic Range Control, then press the OK button. 4. Use the or button to select the options (Auto, On or Off), then press the OK button. 5.

Use the or button to select Language, then press the OK button. 3. Use the or button to select Disc Menu Language, then press the OK button. 4. Use the or button to select the language, then press the OK button. The screen will change to your selected language immediately. 5. Press the SETUP button to exit menu.

CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION SETTINGS DHCP To set your network information. 1. Set “DHCP” to “On” and press the OK button. 2. Set “DNS” to “On” and press the OK button. The DNS server is obtained automatically from the DHCP server. 3. Select “Confirm”, then press the OK button. If the setup is successful, an IP address appears. Press the OK button. CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION SETTINGS General Parental Lock HD DVDs and DVDs equipped with a Parental Lock function includes predetermined limitation levels. The limitation level or limitation method may differ depending on the disc. For example the whole contents of a disc may not be played back, or an extreme violent scene may be cut or replaced automatically by another scene. Important Depending on the disc, it may not be evident whether the disc is compatible with the Parental Lock function.

MAINTENANCE Cleaning the Disc A defective or soiled disc inserted into the unit can cause sound to drop out during playback. Handle the disc by holding its inner and outer edges. • Do NOT touch the surface of the unlabeled side of the disc. • Do NOT stick paper or tape on the surface. • Do NOT expose the disc to direct sunlight or excessive heat. • Clean the disc before playback. Wipe the disc from the center outward with a cleaning cloth.
