Specification Sheet

Repeaters & Protocols
In addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, your VeraPlus Controller uses two other
widely used wireless protocols, called Z-Wave and ZigBee to communicate with
devices. Usually you'll only need to know which protocol a device uses if you
need to extend its range.
Repeaters and range-extenders are protocol-specific. A Z-Wave repeater will
not handle ZigBee or Wi-Fi, it only handles Z-Wave.
Example: A Z-Wave garage door opener is so far from the VeraPlus Controller it
is out of range.
Solution: Install a Z-Wave "Repeater" approximately halfway between the
VeraPlus and the garage to extend range.

Repeaters are available as individual devices. Repeaters can also be found built
into all Z-Wave and ZigBee AC-powered devices, such as light dimmers, light
switches, outlets and outlet strips. Installing a Z-Wave light dimmer halfway
between the VeraPlus and the garage, in this example, solves the problem.
